Compare the spare under the same conditions. Note distance, recent damage, and any pattern to the failure.
Our method
- Check the simplest cause.
- Compare a working spare when possible.
- Verify before ordering a replacement.
Intermittent key-fob problems are frustrating because the key can appear normal one minute and fail the next.
Start here
- Try a fresh, correctly specified battery.
- Compare behavior with a spare key if available.
- Notice whether distance from the vehicle changes the problem.
- Check whether pressing or flexing the case changes the result.
- Look for signs of moisture, impact, or a loose case.
Why the spare key matters
If the spare works consistently in the same place and conditions, that points attention back toward the problem fob. If both behave badly, vehicle-side causes or radio interference may deserve investigation.
